Benjamin Franklin is credited as having said, “If you want something done, ask a busy person.” That is certainly true of Andrea McWilliams. She certainly knows how to get things done.
A native of Austin, Texas, McWilliams is a devoted wife, mother of three, business owner, philanthropist, political strategist, fundraiser, lobbyist, and cancer survivor. She grew up within walking distance of the Capitol in an apartment above her father’s small restaurant, and at the age of 21, she was Chief of Staff. That was the beginning of her rise as a political force. McWilliams went on to work for Public Strategies, Inc, a notable public relations firm, where she learned the ropes and gained experience in public relations. She and her husband, Dean, later founded McWilliams Governmental Affairs Consultants, the top lobbying company in the area. Their clients include Fortune 500 companies and political leaders. Their Republican-Democrat working alliance provides fair, bipartisan representation and is just one reason why their company has grown so fast.
National news organizations, including, FOX News, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and others have recognized McWilliams as a leading political strategist, fundraiser, and political commentator. She has received numerous awards for her service to the community, including, the “Austin Under 40” award, “Profiles in Power” award from the Austin Business Journal, and was a finalist in “2016 Texas Businesswoman of the Year.” The Girl Scouts also recognized her as “Woman of the Year.”
Diagnosed with breast cancer one week before learning that she was pregnant with her third child, McWilliams works diligently with local cancer awareness and fundraising organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and KillCancer. As a survivor, Andrea McWilliams wants to encourage women with cancer. If Andrea McWilliams can survive it, so can they.
